COVID-19 has required Mobius to get creative; we’re transforming in order to survive and continue to serve our region. We're excited to announce that Mobius has consolidated its two locations. The children’s museum, formerly located in the lower level of River Park Square, will move into the space that the science center occupies in the Post Street Annex of the historic Washington Water Power building. Together, the children’s museum and science center will be transformed into Mobius Discovery Center.

Mobius Discovery Center will take advantage of the strongest aspects of the play-based children’s museum and the inquiry-based science center, incorporating them into one discovery center. We've been hard at work revamping the space inside the historic building to include the most popular exhibits from both the children’s museum and the science center.

As one nonprofit, the children’s museum and science center have always shared the same mission. Now, we get to share the same home.

Even though our reopening date is undetermined, we've been busy in the meantime! Mobius has created new education programs to respond to the evolving needs of our community and a new learning landscape.

Mobius Virtual Programs: Follow along with 1 hour, live, virtual STEM experiences guided by a Mobius Educator on Zoom. From dissections to experiments, these interactive programs focus on building a strong STEM foundation with engaging science activities and demonstrations. This program is for families looking to ignite their student’s inner scientist through a small group live session. PRESENTED BY: Numerica Credit Union

STEAM Kits: Ignite imagination while experimenting with hands-on kits! Kits cover a variety of STEAM topics; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math. Kits come complete with instructions and supplies, and are designed for kids and families to do at home together.

Curriculum Camp: Virtual and distance learning support where students in grades 1-5 can attend school virtually from Mobius Discovery Center. Under the supervision of our enthusiastic and experienced learning team, students will have a dedicated space and support to safely navigate through their virtual school day. Students will follow the real-time distance learning schedule of the school/class they’re enrolled in.

STEM Workshops: STEM Workshops are an educational and fun experience for schools, clubs, and organizations to learn through hands-on exploration! STEM workshops provide an extension to STEM-based curriculum taught in a classroom or homeschool setting and can be tailored for virtual or in-person learning.

3rd Grade Structural Engineering: Classes and groups will learn the principles of engineering with this experience designed specifically to meet 3rd grade Next Generation Science Standards. This program is flexible for groups that are learning at home or meeting in-person.
